Children and parents

Questions to ask before a child’s first Taekwon-Do class.

The ITF Kids approach

The ITF Kids Development Programme is designed principally for ages 4–7, with possible adaptation for younger children. It combines introductory Taekwon-Do with movement, social learning and personal-safety topics, including bullying and encounters with strangers.

Choose a suitable group

Ask the instructor about the group’s age range, teaching approach, experience with beginners and opportunities for parents to communicate. A programme’s existence internationally does not mean every local club delivers it.

Before the first lesson

  • Confirm the address, time, clothing and what to bring.
  • Discuss any support your child needs.
  • Ask about supervision, collection arrangements and photo permissions.
  • Find out who handles concerns and how to contact them.

After the lesson, ask what your child enjoyed and what felt difficult. Read our safe training guide before committing to a group.
